SOLD Set of Tulip Chair and 4 Tulip Chairs
Germany, 1970s
This is a rare set from the 1970s consisting of a tulip table with a formica top designed by Maurice Burke for Arkana and four tulip dining chairs made in Germany by Wattenheimer Kunststoffwerke. The design of the dining chairs is based on the popular tulip chair designs by Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen. The legs of the table and chairs are made of aluminum and the seats of the chairs are made of plastic. With their futuristic look, the tulip table and the four tulip chairs are the perfect set to turn every dining room area into a Space Age corner. Many designs by Eero Saarinen, for example, were used to decorate the movie sets of science-fiction films and series such as Star Trek.
