SOLD Coffee Table by Claudio Salocchi

SOLD

for Sormani, Italy 1960s

This elegant coffee or side table by the Italian Designer and Architect Claudio Salocchi in blond walnut offers two small drawers that can be opened to either side. Additionally there are large compartments which can be used as a book or magazine rack. The individual details, such as the drawer handles and the dark notches on the side, are very beautiful. Here you notice the great Italian craftmanship. In order to maintain a certain Italian lightness, the table stands on a narrow, rounded base in a darker shade of wood.

Claudio Salocchi (born Milan, 1934 – 2012) was an Italian industrial and furniture designer and architect. He was a protagonist of the creative ferment of the 60s and 70s who knew how to interpret the transformations of that period into projects that anticipated forms, functionalities, technologies and new typologies that became trends many years later.
In his long career he was internationally involved for more than fifty years in the fields of industrial design, architecture and interior design.
Salocchi’s creative cooperation with the young entrepreneur Luigi Sormani started at the beginning of the 60s and lasted for twenty years.
