Stacking Chairs by Raoul Guys, France 1950s

Set of two stacking chairs by Raoul Guys, featuring slender black lacquered wire frames and thick saddle leather upholstery. The open, linear structure gives the chairs a light, airy look, while the leather surfaces add warmth and material contrast.

Though little is known about the elusive Parisian designer and gallerist, Raoul Guys is associated with a distinct body of mid-century European steel and wicker furniture, often linked to the work of his contemporary and friend, Mathieu Matégot. These chairs embody the spirit of that lineage – stackable, sculptural, and built for everyday use.
