Dining Table by Gianfranco Frattini

This black and oak painted cherry wood dining table designed by one of the most famous Italian architects and creators Gianfranco Frattini for the manufactur Fantoni, represents the influence of the 80s. The material, deep black laquered cherry wood and individual parts in oak colour, also lacquered. The forms, strict lines alternate with a few round parts. The table top is relatively thick. This is because the table has extendable drawers on both sides. The dining table can be extended to a total length of 223 cm (88 inches).

One extendable drawer is used as storage for the two side panels, which are need to extend the table. The other extendable drawer can be used as storage for cutlery or placemets.

Gianfranco Frattini (May 15, 1926 – April 6, 2004) is a member of the generation that created the Italian design movement in the late 1950s through the 1960s. Giò Ponti was one of his teachers and mentors. His collaboration with Cesare Cassina for his namesake company started in 1954, followed by collaborations with many other well known manufactures, such as Arteluce, Artemide, Bernini, Fantoni, Knoll and many others.
Frattini won many professional awards and prizes, among the prestigious industrial design award Compasso d’Oro.
