A striking pair of “Totem” floor lamps designed by Kazuhide Takahama in 1982 for Sirrah, in collaboration with legendary Italian design visionary Dino Gavina. These sculptural pieces reflect Takahama’s refined architectural sensibility and are a rare example of 1980s Italian lighting design influenced by American modernism.

Each lamp is crafted from galvanized stainless steel with a golden finish.  The base, made of sandstone, anchors the vertical composition and adds a contrasting tactile quality. Drawing inspiration from the soaring American skyscrapers of the 1930s, the Totem lamps stand as functional light sculptures with a strong geometric silhouette.

The lamps feature halogen lighting that provides beautifully diffused, indirect illumination—ideal for creating atmosphere in refined interiors.

Kazuhide Takahama was a Japanese architect and designer celebrated for his minimalist style and the seamless blend of Eastern and Western design influences. After starting his career in Japan, he moved to Italy in 1957, where he worked closely with Dino Gavina and the pioneering firm Gavina SpA. Takahama gained recognition for his refined furniture designs, such as the Tulu chairs (1968) and Gaja series (1969), known for their clean lines, geometric clarity, and emphasis on simplicity. His work remains a hallmark of mid-century modern design.

This set of 2 mid-century modern italian floor lamps were produced in the late 1970s. These lamps feature a sleek and stylish design with a wooden and metal base that provides sturdy support. The rectangular lampshade is made of a new off-white fabric that is both durable and visually appealing. The shade is edged on the top and on the bottom with a border that adds a touch of elegance to the overall design. The bright lampshades give a nice warm light. The electrical system was completely renewed by us. These lamps would make a great addition to any mid-century modern or contemporary interior, providing both function and style.

This elegant chandelier was designed by the Gaetano Sciolari in the 70s. The lamp consists of 13 tubular socket holders in shiny chromed metal. These 13 sockets are held by rectangular rods/slats of brass. The socket holders and the rods have hardly any signs of wear or scratches. Very exciting is the combination of chrome and brass, which was unique at that time. All in all a beautiful design object!

Gaetano Sciolaris first designs in the fifties were Sputnik inspired pendants. In the 1960s he created refined, futuristic and sharp classical style chandeliers. Lines were clean and sculptural and materials such as crystal and ice glass sparkled with a volupuously luxurious coolness and he started combining brass with chrome. Gaetano Sciolari was the founder and the first president of the trade association of Italian manufacturers of lighting fixtures, the AIDI. The Associazione Italiana di Illuminazione was founded in 1958 and still exitsts today.
