SOLD Bar Stools by Charlotte Perriand for Les Arcs (Set of 2)
Stunning set of 2 French Mid-Century Modern bar stools designed by Charlotte Perriand for the ski resort “Les Arcs” in France 1960. The stools have chrome plated tubular metal frames and thick natural saddle seats with amazing patina. For sure one of the most popular bar stools around the world.
The French designer Charlotte Perriand won instant acclaim for her design for the “Bar sous le toit” (bar in the garret) in 1927 – then only twenty-four years old -, shown at the Salon d’Automne in Paris. The project brought her to the attention of Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, who asked Perriand to join their atelier. Passionate about mountains and nature, she was one of the architects and interior designers of the ski station Les Arcs, in Savoie. Throughout her career, Charlotte Perriand focused her research on the relationship between man and his environment. In this way she created furniture which is comfortable, functional, but also recognizable and timeless.
Charlotte Perriand worked on such legendary designs as the Shelving System Home of Mexico, the Table Extensible, and the wall lamp CP-1.
