An exceptionally elegant coffee table by Maison Charles, distinguished by four sculptural bronze Flying Horses of Gansu in the spirit of Hollywood Regency. Inspired by the celebrated Chinese bronze from the 2nd century CE, each horse is depicted in perfect balance, resting atop a flying swallow – an enduring symbol of movement, harmony, and mastery of form.

The horses’ finely modeled heads support the substantial glass tabletop, while their tails carry a secondary glass surface below. Square brass crossbars connect the composition, lending both structure and visual rhythm. The table stands on square, black-lacquered feet with brass surfaces, giving the piece a grounded and composed appearance.

Dining table „Antella“ by Kazuhide Takahama, Italy 1970s

This original “Antella” table, designed by the visionary Kazuhide Takahama in the 1970s and produced by Simon Gavina, is a striking example of Italian postmodern design. Known for its sculptural form and multifunctional nature, the “Antella” table is a true collector’s piece. This particular model features the rare orange lacquer finish, a bold and vibrant color that is no longer in production, making it a highly sought-after version.

One of the most ingenious aspects of the “Antella” table is its dual functionality. The design allows it to transform effortlessly from an elegant console table into a full-sized dining table. This is achieved through its rounded, folding tabletop, which, when closed, creates a sleek, sculptural oval shape. When opened, it extends into a spacious surface, ideal for dining or entertaining.

Kazuhide Takahama (1930–2010) was a renowned Japanese architect and designer, celebrated for his refined approach to modernism. After moving to Italy in the 1960s, he collaborated with leading design figures, including Dino Gavina, and became known for his work with minimalist forms, high-gloss lacquer finishes, and a deep respect for craftsmanship. His designs often blur the boundaries between functional furniture and pure artistic expression, and the “Antella” table is a perfect embodiment of this philosophy.

The “Antella” table remains one of Takahama’s most iconic designs, and this version, in rare orange lacquer, is a particularly hard-to-find and collectible iteration. Whether used as a striking dining table, a sophisticated console, or a sculptural statement piece, it is a remarkable fusion of Japanese precision and Italian design heritage.
