1st Edition Joe Colombo Tube Chair for Flexform, Italy 1969

1st Edition Joe Colombo Tube Chair for Flexform, Italy 1969
Rare 1st edition tube chair by Joe Colombo for Flexform produced in Italy 1960.
A true design icon, the Tube Chair by Joe Colombo represents one of the most radical and forward-looking pieces of late 1960s Italian design.
Produced by Flexform in 1969, this rare 1st edition model is part of an early series so significant that the same version is held in the collection of the Vitra Design Museum in Germany.
The chair is composed of four individual cylindrical elements that can be combined and reconfigured, embodying Colombo’s vision of flexible, modular living. Crafted from PVC, polyurethane foam, and vinyl upholstery, the design was an innovative response to the era’s fascination with new materials and futuristic forms.
This particular example shows a beautiful patina, enhancing its authenticity and character. Far from diminishing its appeal, the wear underscores the chair’s history and uniqueness—making it not only a collectible piece of 20th-century design but also a striking sculptural presence.
An exceptional opportunity to acquire an important work of Italian Radical Design.
